The twenty-first century is a century focusing on knowledge economics. Universities, in every country, are

like coliseums where new knowledge is provided and human resources are cultivated. The track of

educational development of universities has changed from the education for the elites to an education for

the public, from being at the leash of economic needs to developing educational features, from being

job-centered to consumer-centered, from the mono to the diversified, from one-time education to lifetime

education, from an education for local field to that of cultivating people with global views. To face the

ever-changing trends, a new policy is needed to meet the challenges. The development strategies fall into

four parts:

 

1. Advancing the Campus Culture

1) Carrying out the spirits of the school mottos 'Perfection, Diligence, Impartiality, Integrity' and practicing

    the spirits of being faithful, prospective and down-to-earth so that a superior campus culture can be

    obtained

2) Highlighting campus ethics and cultivating a campus culture of manners and harmony

3) Creating a living environment on campus filled with an ambiance of humanity, art, elegance, and warmness

4) Reinforcing active studying and ardent researching attitudes

5) Guiding the students on the tracks with right values and positive life philosophy so that they can properly

    work out their own career plans for the future

6) Stressing the importance of daily life education and bringing up the superb quality and style of an

     intellectual

7) Cultivating global views and a versatile mind in the face of the approach of a new era/generation

8) Nurturing superior emotional quotient, thinking, judging, and profound reflective and expressive abilities

    based on the 'Ten Basic Norms of the Full-Man Education'

9) Substantiating educational resources and stepping up the mutual growth of both the faculty and the student

    body in order to manifest the characteristics of the school

10) Stepping up teaching, researching, servicing standards and cementing educational partnership and

      international cooperation

 

2. Expertise Training

1) Implementing the 'full-man' and digitalized education

2) Increasing general education to make a balance between technology and humanity

3) Continuously improving teaching skills to create traits in teaching

4) Reinforcing multiple professional trainee system to reach the goal of preparing professionals for the society

5) Uplifting teaching quality and making bases for students both in advanced studying and in job-holding

6) Integrating interdisciplinary courses structure to move onwards to the goals of a course-and-degree system

7) Guiding students on the right track of acquiring knowledge and enhancing studying attitudes

3. Research and Development Cooperation

3) Actively applying for the research cases offered by the governments and the industrial field

4) Advancing interdisciplinary studies to create specialty research

5) Promoting the quality and the quantity of the teachers' publication and patent application with a view to

    uplifting research standards

6) Actively encouraging both the teachers and the students in research with guidance and awards

7) Popularizing the idea of lifelong studying and developing backflow education

8) Carrying out license system on its full scale

9) Reinforcing consultation on the students' job-hunting and career planning to create job-holding

    opportunities

10) Strengthening the students' extra curriculum activities and broadening their views of life

11) Planning to get upgraded to a university of technology by way of enhancing teaching and researching
