Vanung University celebrated its 45th Anniversary with a launching ceremony of the international talent fostering platform held for plowing government’s ‘New Southbound Policy.’ Many VIPs from its sister schools such as Maejo University in northern Thailand, the East University in Philippines, and Gajah Mada University in Indonesia were invited to witness the historical moment. During the ceremony, Dr. Chuang, president of VNU welcomed and thanked Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan, government officials, legislators, special guesses and sixteen outstanding alumni for their presence and support. He also expressed his gratitude and praise to the principles and guests form the strategic alliance of general and vocational high schools for their successful education in Taoyuan. Ministry of Education was zealous in helping international students to study in Taiwan. In 2016, international students took up 8.9% of total undergraduate enrollment in Taiwan at 116,416. There were 29,634 ASEAN (The Association of Southeast Asian Nations) students, who took up 25.5% of international college students. Among them Malaysian students took up 54%, and students from Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam followed. The best college report of Cheers magazine indicated that VNU, with 350 students from abroad, had the most international students among private universities in Taiwan. Besides, VNU cultivates international talents and provides excellent students with one year free oversea study in its sisster universities in USA and Japan. The three projects of the Asia Silicon Valley Development, Taoyuan Aerotropolis, and Taoyuan International Airport MRT have enabled VNU to have the largest enrollment among the technological universities in Taoyuan. VNU has been active in building up an international talent fostering platform and cultivating international talents to promote student competiveness. Besides, VNU cooperates with Aerotropolis manufacturers in preparing its students for working in aviation management, ground staffing, sky catering, aircraft maintenance, flight attending, and piloting with salaries between 50,000 and 200,000 a month. |
